Faith Works: Housing One Hero A Collaborative Engagement Initiative of Mayor Sam Liccardo with San José’s Faith Based Community Ending veteran’s homelessness in San José one congregation at a time

Housing One Hero Ending Veterans Homelessness One Congregation at a Time House 260 homeless veterans Welcome veterans into your community We can accomplish this in 2 years Mayor’s next Faith Works meeting: Friday, Oct. 14th, 1-2pm at City Hall in the Mayor’s Office

Why Housing One Hero?

What can one congregation do right away? Identify low-cost housing options near the faith community Identify potential landlords within congregation Commit to leasing an apartment and subleasing to veteran Commit to re-furbishing an apartment for a recently housed Veteran Invite a recently housed veteran into your community Designate monthly budget toward housing a homeless veteran. Recommended $500-2000 Monthly

What else can one congregation do? Consider how to make more housing and support services available to homeless veterans: Seek ways to use church property to develop housing for Homeless Veterans. Construction of Modular Housing Units Develop capacity to support a veteran through training and resources within your faith community. Have a special outreach to homeless veterans inviting them to your community fellowships
