FROM ASCD:Leaders…. Provide a sense of mission to their schools; “why are we here?” Engage in participative management: “WE did it.” Provide support for instruction: “This comes first.” Monitor instruction “How can I help?” Are resourceful “mentality of abundance”

FROM STEPHEN COVEY: “Principle-centered leaders” Are continually learning Are service-oriented Radiate positive energy Believe in other people Lead balanced lives See life as an adventure Are synergistic Exercise self-renewal

Strategies:Bennis & Nanus 1. Attention through vision: concern for outcomes, products, results. 2. Meaning through communication 3. Trust through positioning: making ourselves known. 4. Positive self-renewal: confidence w/o cockiness. 5. The “Wallenda Factor” : focus on success, not falling.
