QC workshop Goals: implement QC tools and have a demo of what we have reached by end of the week (i.e. Thursday) Learn each other new developpements at OAC, Munich and Groningen Discuss and agree on open issues related to QC

1) QC based on subwindows Alfredo, Ewout, Fedor, Philippe, Roberto, Danny 1.a.) Methods: Bias, Flats (Dome, Twilight, MasterFlat, Fringes), Reduced images 1.b) Implementation of SubWinStat in the Database and AWBASE i.e. Move the SubWinStat versions of RawFrame.py BiasFrame.py DomeFlatFrame.py TwilightFlatFrame.py MasterFlatFrame.py from Experimental to AWBASE

Things to discuss What's the size of the sub-windows (should be always the same? start/end at the same pixels), overscan/not-overscan corrected images When do we run the image statistics? systematically/interactively ? Science frames : do we remove the objects before SubWinStat? Verify, compare, inspect, trend analysis: how, how often? Verify: compare SubWinStat for different windows in a single frame Compare: compare SubWinStat for the same window in different frames Inspect : always an inspect available for the user? Trend analysis:compare in it's most general form; anything is allowed/possible

2) Photometry QC Ronald, Mark, Roberto Catalog creation: star IDs (linked to astrometry QC), reject bad stars/pixels/artefacts Choice of aperture to account for differences in seeing Zeropoints Atmospheric extinction ? Illumination correction? 2nd standards, SDSS

Photometry QC Progress concerning aperture photometry? QC tool for color terms (OAC)? Suggestions for the inspect in photometry QC Feedback on the Photometric Software design document?

3) QC image pipeline - PSF : Ewout, Edwin, Mark, Roberto, Jan 4) Astrometry QC : Erik Rms and max ref stars residuals Stdev on polynomial parameters Covariance Matrix Residuals
