Presentation transcript:

If you didn’t think it counted before it sure does now! WELCOME GRADE 10s If you didn’t think it counted before it sure does now!

Things to Think About Similar to last year all course selections will be on line through myBlueprint.ca You must take 8 courses It is key to select the appropriate level/skill set for each subject – it will determine your success

Your Course Choices Open (BTA3O1) Workplace (MEL3E1) College (ENG3C1) Mixed (CLU3M1) University (FSF3U1) Advanced Placement (ENG3UP)

Compulsory Courses You must have RELIGION as one of your course selections ENG3E1 must select HRF3O1 ENG3C1 must select HRT3MC ENG3U1 must select HRT3MU * Gr. 11 Religion can now count as a Group 1 You must select a Math (Gr.11) You must select an English (Gr.11)

Your Elective Choices When selecting your electives make sure you have the electives you really like as you will not be allowed to change electives in September Changes should be made through course verification Your electives should be chosen based upon your exit plan from high school which should be completed through the IPP in myBlueprint

Speaking of Your Exit Plan… Research your post-secondary destination by using myBlueprint, career studies inventories, and attend the college/university forum here at OLMC in October Recall that you must have the prerequisite to select the courses at the levels you choose Be realistic about your course selections and make sure that they match your skill sets and your academic abilities

And a Little More Advice… Colleges and universities do look at your marks and place great emphasis on your grade 11 and 12 marks Unlike in grades 9 and 10, there is full disclosure on your transcript for grade 11 and 12 marks (pass, fail, withdraw or drop)

What is Co-op? Co-operative Education is a possibility in grades 11 and/or 12 with either a 2 or 4 credit option Consider Dual Credit – please visit the Guidance Department or the CO-OP office for more information

So how will this unfold? On January 9th you will receive your course selection packages. All course selections will be done through myBlueprint.ca There is a new way to access this site. Follow the steps outlined in the package. You will now access myblueprint through www.dpcdsb.org (the board website) To set up a new account you will need your OEN, your DOB month/day/year.

myBlueprint Prior to selecting your courses on myBlueprint, take the Christmas holidays to work through and complete the Individual Pathway Plan (IPP) This will assist you in making course selections for your entire high school career. This will also assist you in preparing for your post-secondary exit plan.

(WARNING: Courses fill up quickly) So when do we start? Course selection will occur on: Tuesday January 10th, 2017. (WARNING: Courses fill up quickly) The portal will open at 4pm. The portal will close January 16th at 3:00pm SHARP You may change your course selection in March when the course verification forms come out

So what happens in January? You will make your course selections on January 10th at 4:00 pm school time (WARNING: Courses fill up quickly) Once you have submitted your course request (don’t forget to press SAVE) you will: a) print a Course Request Verification Report, get it signed by a parent/guardian b) pay the $65 Activity Fee on-line c) hand in to homeroom teacher Jan. 12th-18th
