Organization One binder for LA with four dividers Journals/Bell ringer Classwork-loose leaf paper Resources/Handouts Graded Papers/Data (Lexile level-goal setting) Loose leaf paper, pens (black, blue, and red, flash drive)

Curriculum Reading- Informational and literary text Extended text-We Beat the Street Drs. Davis, Jenkins, and Hunt Writing- Argumentative-Informative-Explanatory- Narratives Routine Writing -notes, summaries, journals, short responses across all genres

Reading Inventory Taken three times through the year. Score is referred to as LEXILE Independent reading range 100 below and 50 above End of 6th grade year proficiency ranges 925-1070

Reading Counts Write the title of book in agenda. Take Reading Counts quiz at school with teacher Score 80% or higher. Student should make sure that the book is within his/her lexile range and that the book has a test (Destiny). Minimum of 3 tests every QUARTER August 17 September 6 September 20

Homework Philosophy Student should review/complete what was done in class each evening. Revise and edit papers. Ask to read their writing. If they are coming home with lots of homework….they are wasting class time! Read a minimum of 20 minutes each evening.
