Mark 8:29,30 And He {continued} by questioning them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “Thou art the Christ.” 30 And He warned them to tell no one about Him.

Mark 8:31,32 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

The transfiguration of Jesus declares His pre-eminence.

(1) The Transfiguration Shows Jesus to be the Fathers

Mark 9:1 And He was saying to them, “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.”

Mark 9:2,3 And six days later, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John, and brought them up to a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; 3 and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them.

Mark 9:4,5 And Elijah appeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. 5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

(2) The transfiguration shows Jesus to be the Christ

Mark 9:9,10 And as they were coming down from the mountain, He gave them orders not to relate to anyone what they had seen, until the Son of Man should rise from the dead. 10 And they seized upon that statement, discussing with one another what rising from the dead might mean.
