Becoming a Bold Believer Acts 4:9-33

Acts 4:9-10 “If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.”

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

1. Keep Company with God the Son

Acts 4:13 “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

2. Have Confidence in God the Father

The Apostles had Confidence that: God is the Creator of All Things God is the Controller of All Things God is the Conqueror of All Things

3. Receive Courage from the God the Holy Spirit

Acts 4:29-31 “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

Proverbs 28:1 “The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”

Why Do We Need Courage? To Express God’s Word (v.29) To Extend God’s Hand (v.30) To Exalt God’s Son (v.30)

Acts 4:31 “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

Acts 4:33 “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.”
