Teacher This presentation explains the value of FlipCharts as a teaching and learning strategy. Please allow about 5 minutes to go through the presentation.
What Are FlipCharts? FlipCharts are PowerPoint files. They are interactive - that is, actions happen on the screen as the teacher poses questions about that action. The relationship between action and question engages students in mathematical thinking and reasoning – the foundation for constructing new understandings. The importance of FlipCharts as a key teaching-learning context cannot be underestimated.
FlipCharts and Explicit Teaching FlipCharts and the explicit teaching model are mutually supportive of each other. You can see more on the explicit teaching model in the Help menu.
FlipCharts and Your IWB The teacher stands to the side of the IWB in readiness to tap the board/use the mouse/use the pointer to create the action on the screen. Students stand in front of the screen in a fan shape. Where appropriate students come forward to the board to enable the action.
