City Council Work Session July 5, 2017

Background Information A comprehensive city wide pavement assessment was conducted in FY 14-15. This scientific process analyzed 1,440 lane miles of city streets. Purpose was to provide a non bias assessment of the street system while providing a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) for all streets. (grade = structural integrity) Assessment identifies pavement distresses and pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction methods to maximize return on investment Assessment determined the average PCI score for all 1,440 lane miles of city streets to be 72 2017 estimated cost to maintain all city streets at a 72 PCI score is in excess of $800 million

$100 Million in 5 Years Staff has delineated the operational plans to achieve a goal of investing $100 million in street improvements over five years (FY 17 – FY 22) Streets identified based upon the PCI and conditions such as drivability, daily usage and proposed utility replacements Preliminary cost estimates based on the initial scope of the roadway segments Goal is to provide the recommended list of all work activities required to properly address the five year breakdown for the “Road to the Future” program Cost estimates are based on current construction costs
