What are the risks?

Children Online Potential Risks Cyber bullying Grooming Inappropriate websites Losing control over pictures and video / Giving out too much information online – your ‘Digital Footprint’ Viruses, hacking and security Online Gaming ‘Sexting’

What We Do A comprehensive, age appropriate, progressive online safety curriculum including: A 6 session PSHE tutor time programme (differentiated by year). eSafety covered in Computing curriculum (differentiated by year). We cover eSafety in many curriculum areas (One example: teaching students how to evaluate sources when using the internet in subjects such as History). We give termly assemblies on eSafety and give additional assembly on safer internet day. We regularly update parents using Parentmail, Edmodo, social media and host meetings on site providing eSafety advice. Our eSafety officer is Richard Kirkby. We have an eSafety committee where staff meet once a term to discuss eSafety. We have an eSafety policy which is available on our website. We continuously monitor all systems used and pick up on any misuse. Our website has a specific page dedicated to eSafety – www.chestertoncc.net/esafety

So – what can you do? In your family: How many devices do you have? What security settings do you enforce? What protection measures do you take? What does your digital footprint look like? Do you have a family agreement?
