Design your own “Green” Home

Things to Consider What energy will you use/need? Electricity Heating/Cooling Hot water What materials will you use to build with? How will you get water? Cost (to build and to maintain)? Carbon-footprint? Landscaping?

Things to Consider Choose a location for your home and use the following website to determine the best renewable energy to use in that area: http://www.nrdc.org/energy/renewables/energymap. asp

Questions to Ask What is a good design for our needs? What are good sizes and proportions for rooms? What style do I want? What problems do I have in my current house that I don't want to repeat? Is that a good material, I've never heard of it? Is landscaping included? Sod? Seed? mud and rocks? Slopes? Are landscape features guaranteed? I really want this ________________in the house -- how do I get exactly that?
