Constitutional Officers Tax Collector Constitutional Officers Barbara Ford-Coates provided rare assurance to Democrats, dominating while all other county-wide Democrats failed. Clerk of Court Karen Rushing coasted to re-election, winning many Democratic- leaning precincts fellow Republicans failed to win.

Mike Moran secured victory winning the safe red precincts, rivaling Steube in votes while Atkins was held to blue areas. Betsy Benac won re- election over an NPA opponent, who only won a few Democratic precincts. County Commission Stephen Jonnson won less than a majority, but his NPA opponents had different geographic support.

Messenger won every precinct county-wide against an opponent backed by Manatee Democrats. Miner edged out victory against a fellow Republican, but had the narrowest win of any regional candidate. School Board

Turnout among younger voters leaps for presidential elections, but remains under 60 percent for the under-30 set. For voters 50-90, turnout runs 80 percent or higher. Turnout by Age

Voters by Race Turnout among white voters was upward of 79%. Among blacks and Hispanics, it was 67%.

Party Breakdown Republicans turned out at such a high rate (83%) that in the two-county region, GOP voters would have outnumbered Democrats if all of them turned out.
