Topic Aims Method Equipment Duration Level Hidden Lucy’s Holiday – Camping Flooring Aims To use a real-life example to show that as a family they can do maths together. It highlights the different maths topics that are covered at any one time. To highlight that maths is in everyday life but that we don’t always see it as maths. To practice the conversion from m – cm – mm. Many children, and parents (especially those who still work in feet and inches) find this difficult. Level Key Stage 2 Method Exercise on calculating floor needed for camping, slide 3 is the calculation, slide 4 and 5 the resources. Helps to visualise m- cm and mm. They want to put a floor mat inside the sleeping compartment of the tent to make it comfier and warmer to sleep in.
