What I wish I had known my first semester at GW… What are two things you learned by the end of your first year that you wish you had known when you arrived on campus?

Adjusting to GW How is college different from high school? Independence Accountability – Choose your own adventure No parents Advocating for yourself Taking care of yourself How is GW different from other institutions? Cabinet – What was your biggest adjustment

Life as a GW Student What types of commitments might you have at GW? Classes and Studying/Homework Student Organizations Health and Wellness (grocery shopping, going to the gym, doctor’s appointments) Jobs Social Commitments Community Service Sports Sleep! Cabinet did we leave anything off? Are there certain commitments that are unique to GW?

How do you avoid this? This can happen in both your academic life and the rest of your life, and we’re going to talk a bit about how you can manage both, they are not as separate as you think they might be….
