Crime The crime in the Westing Game is, who murdered Sam Westing?
Type of novel The Westing Game is a detective story because the 16 heirs are given clues to help them solve the mystery of Sam Westing’s murder. It also has a private investigator in it (Otis Amber). Sam Westing has a lot of disguises, and not everyone is who they claim to be.
Uncertainty & Suspense Uncertainty is in this novel because know one knows (in the beginning ) who killed Sam Westing. Suspense is in this novel because many bombs are going off in Sunset Towers and no one knows when the next one will happen. No one expects them.
Clues Some clues in this novel are paper towel squares with words on them. These are clues because Sam Westing said they hold the murderer’s name. These clues make the reader think they can solve the mystery by combining all the clues
Suspects The suspects in the novel are the 16 heirs because in Sam Westing’s will, it said that the murderer is one of the heirs.
Sam Westing turned out to not be murdered Sam Westing turned out to not be murdered. He disguised himself as Sandy McSouthers (an heir) and faked a heart attack. Later on he used his other disguise , Julian R. Eastman. Turtle Wexler (an heir) discovered him. Sam Westing died for the last time at age 85. Or so we think. Resolution
