Introduction Technology has changed the traditional workplace Co-workers no longer sit in a common workplace Technology has made it possible for people to work on a common project, from different locations This presentation addresses three technologies that have played a key role in facilitating collaborative virtual working The Global Village

Web conferencing It is a form of real time communication, in which the participants see the same computer screen at a the same time It encompasses tools that allow participants to comment, point, highlight, etc., during the presentation. This technology makes a group of workers to perform a common task, regardless of their physical locations. The Global Village

Interactive video This technology makes it possible for people to converse as they see each other It uses web cam technology, which uses cameras to capture real- time videos of the participants. This technology is appropriate for video conferencing, as it allows the user to initiate actions through touch The Global Village

Instant messaging and texting These technologies make it possible for the users to exchange messages which are received by the other party instantly. These technologies are appropriate for urgent communications. The Global Village

Conclusion The collaborative technologies make it possible for people to work together from different locations The technologies create a virtual environment that resembles the traditional workplace This is achieved through making it possible to communicate and perform tasks regardless of the physical locations The Global Village
