QUERIES

WHO is only used when referring to people. EXAMPLES: Q. Who is the best football player in the world? Q. Who are your best friends? Q. Who is that strange guy over there?

WHOM WHOM is only used when asking what or which person or people EXAMPLES: Q. Whom do you live with? Q. Whom are you going to invite for your party? Q. Whom did he blame for the accident?

Difference between Who and Whom “Who" is a Subject Pronoun "Who" is a subject pronoun like "he," "she" and "we" in the examples below. We use "who" to ask which person does an action in a certain way. Examples: Q. Who made the birthday cake? Q. Who is in the kitchen? Q. Who is going to do the dishes? “Whom" is an Object Pronoun "Whom" is an object pronoun like "him," "her" and "us." We use "whom" to ask which person receives an action. Examples: Q. Whom are you going to invite? Q. Whom did he blame for the accident? Q. Whom did he hire to do the job?

WHERE is used when referring to a place or location. EXAMPLES: Q. Where is the library? Q. Where do you live? Q. Where are my shoes?

WHEN WHEN is used to refer to a time or an occasion. EXAMPLES: Q. When do the shops open? Q. When is his birthday? Q. When are we going to finish?

WHY is used to obtain an explanation or a reason. EXAMPLES: Q. Why do we need a nanny? Q. Why are they always late? Q. Why does he complain all the time?

WHAT WHAT is used to refer to specific information. EXAMPLES: Q. What is your name? Q. What is her favourite colour? Q. What is the time?

WHICH WHICH is used when a choice needs to be made EXAMPLES: Q. Which drink did you order – the rum or the beer? Q. Which day do you prefer for a meeting – today or tomorrow? Q. Which is better - this one or that one?

WHOSE WHOSE is used when asking about ownership / to find out which person something belongs to. EXAMPLES: Q. Whose books are these? Q. Whose cell phone keeps ringing? Q. Whose turn is it ? "Whose" is a possessive pronoun like "his," "her" and "our." Examples: Whose camera is this? Whose dog is barking outside?
