Teaching Children work in mixed ability groups and may choose to work alone or with support. Children may be put into groups to focus, extend or differentiate learning to their needs or the needs of the curriculum. Work is differentiated to the needs of the children and depending on their year group. Children have the opportunity to extend their learning through different challenges. Topics are repeated throughout the year to deepen understanding and develop confidence and independence.

Rewards and Sanctions Behaviour Policy Children will receive stars for hard work and good behaviour based around our class and school charters and for making good choices. Children will lose ‘golden time’ for making the wrong choice but will be given verbal warnings to correct their behaviour and make good choices before losing any time. Beyond classroom sanctions for bad choices, the school has a ‘red box’ to record more challenging behaviour and parents will be informed at every step of this process with letters home.

HOMEWORK: Will be given out on a Friday, to be returned by Thursday the following week. Will live in homework books that we will stick in regularly. Will be based on the learning that has taken place throughout the week. May involve research / finding out facts / making an item for a lesson (eg a periscope!). Please encourage your children to be creative with their homework make videos, build things, paint anything that engages them with their learning. Individual tables targets are also given weekly. Reading minimum 20 minutes a night please. Read with your child even if they are confident and test their understanding. Homework / classwork – every piece of work should be their very best.
