BIOGRAPHY Edgar Allan Poe was a very interesting person. He wrote many stories that became popular all over the world. He was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. After his parents died he was taken in by Frances and John Allan, a wealthy merchant in Richmond, Virginia. He traveled with them to England in 1815. In 1820 he was back in Richmond where he attended the University of Virginia, where he studied Latin and Poetry. Poe left school and served in the Untied States Army for two years. He had been writing poetry for some time in 1827. In that same year Tamerlane and Other Peoms, his first book, was published. His foster mom died in 1829. In that same year his second book Al Aaraaf was published.

BIO CONT. He moved in with his aunt Maria Clemm in 1822 and moved out in 1844. His brother Henry lived in the Clemm household too. He died of tuberculosis soon after Poe moved in. In 1835 he became editor and contributor of the Southern Literary Massager. Then he died in June 29, 1849, In Virginia.

My theory on Poe’s Death I think that it was the diseases. When he was writing a letter to Maria Clemm he was saying how he was too ill to write and that he has had the cholera, or spasms quite as bad, and can now hardly hold the pen. Many people die from medical issues or diseases such as: The have Diabetes or they have an intellectual disability. He might have had a brain disease that caused him to have a sudden death. There could be many reasons to which Edgar Allan Poe died, but having a disease or medical problem is very likely.

Favorite Story The “RED DEATH” devastated many peoples lives. The Masque of the Red Death is about people dying because of tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is when you have a disease and blood fills up in your lungs and you die. Many of these people had this type of disease. Tuberculosis is also known as The Red Death. This story is my favorite of all the Edgar Allan Poe story’s because it has great detail on how the people died.

Favorite Story Cont. The Masque of the Red Death is a horrifying story. I don’t like to see people die, I think it is cruel but this story has a lot of action in it. It has a great scene to its setting. I like how there were 7 rooms and each room was a diff. color and the curtains were that same color except for the 7th room. I thought that was pretty creepy. I liked it a lot.

Conclusion Edgar Allen Poe is like the father of horror because he knows how to scare everybody. His life was pretty horrific. For example his wife was 13 and he was 26. She also died of Tuberculosis. I didn’t really make any connections. I enjoyed hearing his creepy but interesting story’s because I love mysteries such as The Masque of the Red Death and The Case of Amontillado.
