Senior Year Responsibilities! Focus on what your next steps after high school will be! Workforce Military College Passing all classes senior year is important for any track!

Entering the Workforce? Attend the NT Career an College Fair Job shadow this year Start making connections with possible employers Manufacturing companies in the area

Joining the Military? Military representatives visit NT frequently throughout the year! Visit with these reps and ensure you are on time with applying ASVAB test- this test will be optional this year and is used to help your placement/determine your job duties in the military.

Applying to college? College visitations- allowed 2 excused college visit days Attend the NT Career and College Fair Online exploration www.campustours.com www.collegeclicktv.com Attend the FAFSA night- date to be determined!

The application process Determine which schools to apply for and note what materials are required Letters of recommendation? Transcripts? Note the application deadlines for each school and ensure you have your materials submitted on time! Do not wait until the last minute to gather your materials!

Letters of Recommendation and Transcripts Forms are located outside of my office to request for each. Letters of Recommendation: allow at least 2 weeks for the letter to be written! Transcripts: Turn in a request form for each school you need a transcript sent to! (except for schools that use the common app, as I get notified immediately)

Common Application vs. Standard Application www.commonapp.org Many schools now use this as their only means of applying. Apply to many different schools using the same application. Standard Application Some schools require you to fill out their own unique application located either on their site or via hard copy. Be sure to check the application requirements for each specific school as they can be different!

ACT and SAT Be sure to have your scores from each test sent to the schools you are applying for. Even if you have not yet applied, you can send your scores so the college will have them! Allow 2-4 weeks for the colleges to receive your scores once you request them to be sent. For test dates and locations: www.actstudent.org www.collegeboard.org

Financial Aid- FAFSA Financial Aid is any scholarship, grant, work study, or loan that will help pay for college. FAFSA: www.fafsa.ed.gov New rules for applying for aid: No longer require prior year tax information, but prior prior year! This means you do not have to delay and can use tax information from this past tax season! Application opens October 1st now! Be sure to listen for the announcement as to when the FAFSA night will be at NT- this will be a free service to get help filling out the FAFSA!

Scholarships! Local scholarships are available beginning in December/January with due dates of late March/early April. National scholarships: start looking and applying for now! www.fastweb.com www.collegenet.com www.college.gov www.raise.me www.meritaid.com

Stay Organized! Meetings throughout the year with more information regarding college and timelines. Keep a folder/notebook with all the schools you are applying to that has their application deadlines and materials needed. Ask questions!  Senior year is busy and it is your responsibility to stay on top of things!
