Writing Non Negotiables I can use the first three or four letters of a word to check its spelling in a dictionary. I can plan my writing by noting and developing ideas, drawing on reading and research where necessary. I can plan my writing by identifying the audience and the purpose of the writing, and I can select the right model to use. I can use connectives to build cohesion within a paragraph [e.g. then, after that, this, firstly] I can write with increasingly legibly, fluently and with increasing speed.

Reading Non Negotiables I can maintain positive attitudes to reading and understanding of what I have read by: Continuing to read and discuss an increasingly wide range of fiction, poetry, plays, non-fiction and reference books or textbooks. Checking that the book makes sense, discussing my understanding and exploring the meaning of words in context

Homework Spellings to be given out on a Monday. Children are to write these out everyday and on the following Monday they need to be tested. New spellings will then be given out The children are expected to read or be read to every day for 20 minutes. They then need to write a blurb in their homework diaries. Weekly comprehension or maths activity Topic based projects or tasks may also be set

PE Kit- to be in on a Monday and go home on a friday Trainers Coloured house t-shirt Shorts or tracksuit bottoms- no leggings Hair tied back and no jewellery

Excel Tracking Each child will have an individual tracking sheet with objectives which need to be mastered for writing, reading, maths and science. These will be used to determine whether they are working towards, working within, expected or exceeding at greater depth.
