Back to School Night “Learning is our Superpower!” Mrs. Wilson First Grade

Classroom Policies Students must follow the posted classroom rules. If student breaks a rule they will be asked to pull their pin. Green: Great Day Yellow: Warning Orange: Loss of Recess Red: Phone Call Home Check Behavior Calendar daily

Tiger Folder Math Practice Book Folders go home daily and should return to school every morning. Math Practice Book Used weekly for homework Keep in a safe place

Homework Students will receive a packet every Friday (Math homework is in the Math Practice Book) Designated nightly on cover sheet, but all is due Friday. Homework must have all math pages attached and be in the “Return to School” side of the folder for Friday collection.

Poems and Sharing Poem or Sharing activities will be assigned approximately once every month. Poems will be sent home with a note explaining the recital procedure. Practice all week and students will recite the poem in front of the class on Friday. When sharing is assigned for homework, there will be an instruction page sent home. Students should practice speaking about the topic all week. May not use the paper to read from when sharing.

Assessments/Grades Students will be given weekly assessments. Graded tests will be sent home stapled to the weekly newsletters on Mondays. Classwork will be sent home in the Green Tiger Folder. Graded work will have a number correct over number possible. Classwork completed with the teacher will have a star or stamp and will not be taken as a grade. Any test that receives below a 70% must be signed, corrected, and returned.

Sight Words Our goal is that each student will know 150 words by the 100th day of school. A list of words will be sent home. Please practice, sign and return the list when student knows the words. Students need to read each word within 3 seconds of seeing it. New list will be sent once they have passed the previous.

Birthdays Please contact me in advance if you are sending a treat. Please consider sending a healthy option Treats must be individually wrapped. Please send necessary napkins and supplies to go with the treat.
