Science/ Social Studies What’s happening in… First Grade March 28-March 31 Reminders/News Find Mrs. Wood’s class on Facebook (Type Mrs. Wood’s class into the search box) Keep track of books read for book-it (March) Book orders due by April 15th Log-in to Raz-kids or Front Row any time for extra practice in reading and math. Math We will continue Chapter 13: Addition and Subtraction to 40.. In this chapter your child will learn to add and subtract vertically with and without regrouping using a two-digit number and a one-digit number as well as two two-digit numbers. They will also learn to add three one-digit numbers together. Reading Due to only having this class 3 days this week, we will be taking the unit test and analyzing the data to find weak areas to focus on. Birthdays Amber Guffey-7th Writing We will continue working on Unit 5: Narrative Writing with the 4 w’s. This is where students will practice writing fiction stories. Students use the question words who, what, when, and where to help them plan their story and then use beginning, middle, and end to plan the plot. Calendar March 31-Beta Movie April 4-8-Spring Break April 11-Spring Pictures April 20-Blood drive at School May 17-No School May 19-Awards/last Day of School Science/ Social Studies Students will continue the science unit Space Systems: patterns and cycles. Students will spend time outside making observations of what they see as far as patterns go with the sun and moon.
