What is the link between these items?

What is tobacco?

What is tobacco? Tobacco is a product made from the leaves of a plant. It can be smoked in a cigarette, cigar or pipe. Tobacco contains the drug called nicotine. Nicotine is also in e-cigarettes.

Is tobacco a drug or a medicine?

A drug is... A drug is a chemical substance that changes how your brain and body work. A medicine is a type of drug that is used to prevent illness or to make people better if they are unwell. What is tobacco?

What are the effects and risks of smoking tobacco? In pairs: Read your cards carefully. Sort your cards into true and false piles. If you are not sure, make a separate pile. Share

Thinking Question: Why would a grown up choose to smoke? It is against the law to buy tobacco before age 18. There are no safety recommendations only health warnings. Smoking is banned in public places. There is lots of help for people to stop smoking.

Record a question Do you have a question about tobacco or smoking? What might a year four child ask about tobacco or smoking?

Healthy ways to relax and de-stress Some people who choose to smoke say it helps them feel calm. Let’s try a healthier way to relax and de-stress. Let’s do some Zumba! https://app.gonoodle.com/channels/zumba-kids/beauty-and-a-beat?source=search
