FIFTH GENERATION COMPUTERS 1989-2000

5th Gen Computer Developmental Stage Based on artificial Intelligence Uses quantum computation and molecular and nanotechnology Aims to have the power of human intelligence

5th Gen Goal to develop the device which could respond to natural language input and are capable of learning and self-organization Uses super large scale integrated chips

5th Gen Characteristics Uses super large scale integrated chips Will have artificial intelligence Able to recognize image and graphs

5th Gen Computers The IBM Personal Computer, commonly known as the IBM PC, is the original version and progenitor of the IBM PC compatible hardware platform. It is IBM model number 5150, and was introduced on August 12, 1981. It was created by a team of engineers and designers under the direction of Don Estridge of the IBM Entry Systems Division in Boca Raton, Florida.

Pc The Programma 101, also known as Perottina, was the first commercial "desktop computer".[1][2] Produced by Italian manufacturer Olivetti, based in Piedmont, and invented by the Italian engineer Pier Giorgio Perotto

Amiga 1000 with Seiko Music Keyboard The Amiga 1000 is released. Commodore’s Amiga 1000 sold for $1,295 dollars (without monitor) and had audio and video capabilities beyond those found in most other personal computers. It developed a very loyal following and add-on components allowed it to be upgraded easily. The inside of the case is engraved with the signatures of the Amiga designers, including Jay Miner as well as the paw print of his dog Mitchy.

LAPTOP A portable personal computer with a clamshell form factor Suitable for mobile use sometimes called notebook computers or notebooks commonly used in a variety of settings, including work, education, and personal multimedia

The Epson HX-20 (also known as the HC-20) is generally regarded as the first laptop computer, announced in November 1981, although first sold widely in 1983.The Epson HX-20 (also known as the HC-20) is generally regarded as the first laptop computer, announced in November 1981, although first sold widely in 1983.

The Dulmont Magnum [2] was an early laptop computer designed and marketed by Dulmison Pty Ltd[2] in Australia in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Magnum was also known internationally as the Kookaburra, and was on the market from 1982 to 1986.

The IBM 5100 Portable Computer was a introduced in Septum ber 1975, six years before the IBM PC.

5th GEN ADVANTAGES Faster than the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation computers Easier to repair Smaller than other generation computers Prolonged duration of use Doesn’t need air conditioning Portable

5th GEN DISADVANTAGES Not able to do many things at the same time These might be smart enough to replace humans People are becoming too reliant on the advanced technology Some even might not be able to live without them
