Overall information Photovoltaic collector Probably will be one of the main energy source in the future

Selecting TRNSYS component

Model parameters

Model in excel The global formula to estimate the electricity generated in output of a photovoltaic system is : E = A * r * H * PR E = Energy (kWh) A = Total solar panel Area (m²) r = solar panel yield or efficiency (%) H = Annual average solar radiation on tilted panels (kWh/m2) PR = Performance ratio, coefficient for losses (range between 0.5 and 0.9, default value = 0.75)

Comparison/conclusion Results TRNSYS 279,3 kWh/year Excel 261,9 kWh/year Comparison/conclusion TRNSYS benefits Excel benefits Has a big range of possibilities Complex system Has demo version Environment we are used to Full version price much lower then TRNSYS Other applications possible VBA included

Used literature Info about PV http://photovoltaic-software.com/PV-solar-energy-calculation.php TRNSYS 16 Mathematical Reference http://web.mit.edu/parmstr/Public/Documentation/05-MathematicalReference.pdf Building a TRNSYS system https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXAUC0fiuGk
