Word-Phrase Relationships

Why Do They Matter? In any language: Letters work together to create sounds. Sounds work together to create words. Words work together to create meaningful phrases. If we are to understand what we read, we must be able to analyze relationships between unfamiliar words, and the phrases around them. You know this as … CONTEXT CLUES!

Relationships Between Words: Examples: Individual words can relate to one another in a few different ways. They might be: Synonyms Antonyms Analogies Part-Whole Whole-Part
