Introduction Web Maintenance Console (Web MC) All features and settings of the PBX can be set through system programming with Web Maintenance Console. This document explains the installation procedure, basic structure and operation of the　Web MC. 2

Chapter 1 Overview

1-1 Web Maintenance Console - Overview Web-based Programming Tool for KX-NS1000. No specific tool (software) is required. Standard Web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozila Firefox) can be used. Unified PC Maintenance Console (UPCMC) for KX-NCP/TDE/TDA is NOT compatible with KX-NS1000. KX-NS1000 does NOT support the system programming using proprietary telephones. Web MC is a web-based application and offers the overall interface to program and maintain KX-NS1000. (15秒）You can configure the PBX, for example, managing the activation keys, setting the optional cards, registering the terminals, activating various PBX features, backing up and restoring the system data files. (35秒）A popular web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, allows you to access the Web MC. The Web MC is only one programming tool for KX-NS1000. 5

1-2 Operating Modes Interactive Mode & Off-line Mode (Batch Mode) Interactive Mode allows real-time access and configuration of the PBX system. (3)KX-NS1000 offers 2 operating modes: Interactive mode and Batch (Off-line) mode. (12)Interactive mode allows you to directly access the PBX, and create or modify the system data stored in the PBX’s memory. Data can be modified and results displayed in real time. Batch mode is convenient when you would like to pre-configure the PBX while your PC does not have an online connection to the PBX at the moment. By accessing the WEB MC in batch mode, you can create new system data files, and make modifications to system data files stored on your local PC. The updated system data files can be uploaded to the PBX at any time when you have the online connection to the PBX. 6

Public/Private IP Network Voice & Data Communication 1-3 Master-Slave Configuration One-look Networking Using Panasonic Proprietary Protocol Public/Private IP Network VPN/LAN Branch Office 2 Corporate Office Branch Office 1 Master Slave Dealer’s Office : VPN router Voice & Data Communication A single PBX can be used as the stand alone system, as well as multiple PBXs can be used as a networked system. The networked system can be configured either in Master-Slave configuration or Self-Master configuration. （15秒）In the one-look network, the master unit acts as the central processor, and slave units are considered something like capacity expansion shelves. With this configuration, it is easy to make network-wide changes by performing programming at the master unit only. （35秒）Each slave unit contains local data programming settings, but these local settings are still specified using the Master unit. 7

Public/Private IP Network 1-4 Self-Master Configuration Voice Communication Networking Using QSIG or H.323 Public/Private IP Network Leased Line Branch Office 2 Branch Office 1 Dealer’s Office Corporate Office Master : VPN router or Data Circuit-Terminating Equipment Voice Communication Obtaining a leased line from a telephone company, multiple PBXs can network each other for voice communication using QSIG or H.323 protocol. （15秒）Unlike the one-look networking, within this networked system, every PBX has its own system data and independently controls its connected terminals. So, every PBX is set as the master unit, and you can maintain each unit separately. 8

Number of Accounts / One-Look Network 1-5 User Accounts (1/2) The Web MC supports 3 different account types (Access Levels). Account Levels Level For Description Installer Dealers and system installers Used for overall system installation and maintenance. The installer level can be used to program which menus in Web Maintenance Console are accessible by Administrator accounts. User (Administrator) On-site system managers For general maintenance of users and user settings, such as backing up the system data, confirming extension information, etc. User (User) End users For individual users of the PBX system. Users can change their extension settings, speed dial settings, or other personal settings. 1-5 User Accounts (2/2) Login Name and Password Level Login Name Installer INSTALLER * By default * Capital letters 4-16 character password, using a-z, A-Z, and 0-9 (case sensitive). For an initialised PBX, the default Installer level password is “1234". User (Administrator) Set during account creation. 1-16 character login name, using a-z, A-Z, and 0-9 (case sensitive). User (User) The “Installer” is required to set the password at the Easy Setup Wizard. 　　(Default password “1234” should be changed at Easy Setup Wizard. “1234” is rejected by system) It is strongly recommended that passwords of 10 numbers or characters be used for maximum protection against unauthorised access.　 Change the passwords periodically. 10

Browser Settings - SSL 3.0 - Cookies - Java Script - The ability to download files - The display of animations - The display of images These functions must be enabled in the Web browser’s settings to use Web Maintenance Console. For details, refer to your Web browser’s documentation. 12

2-3 Available Connections (1/3) Direct Connection The MNT port is set as a DHCP server. - Ethernet cable with an RJ45 connector - Maximum Distance: 100 m In order to program or manage the PBX, you need to connect your PC to the PBX. Several connection methods are provided, and here you can see the outline of the direct connection. Set the PC as a DHCP client. 13

2-3 Available Connections (2/3) Connection via LAN or VPN Via VPN Via LAN Switch Switch - 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX: CAT 5 or higher 1000BASE-T: CAT 5e or higher - Maximum length: 100 m It is also possible to manage the PBX via a LAN or VPN connection. - Auto Negotiation: ON - If using VLAN: The switch must be IEEE 802.1Q compliant, and set the port to “Untagged”. 14

2-3 Available Connections (3/3) Connection via Internet Switch Specify static NAT (port forwarding) settings to the router. - 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX: CAT 5 or higher 1000BASE-T: CAT 5e or higher - Maximum length: 100 m - Auto Negotiation: ON - If using VLAN: The switch must be IEEE 802.1Q compliant, and set the port to “Untagged”. Using the WebMC and suitable network routing, it is possible to access the PBX system via the Internet. Ensure that appropriate security measures are in-place before attempting this. (Firewall etc) CAUTION Be sure to follow the security policy of the PBX installation sites. 15

2-4 Accessing Web MC There are different addresses depending on Connection Types When Connecting via MNT Port http://kx-ns1000. - Be sure to include the period at the end as shown. - “223.0.0.1”: the default IP address of the MNT port = Fixed When Connecting via LAN or VPN http://192.168.0.101/WebMC - “192.168.0.101”: the default IP address of the LAN port = Variable When Connecting via Internet (SSL Connection) https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:yyy “xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” will be an IP address, and “yyy” will be a port number that can be accessed from the internet, for example the IP address and port number of a network router. Port forwarding settings must specify the IP address and the port number of the network router (“xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:yyy”) to transfer the packets to the PBX in the LAN, so that the　packets sent to the global IP address and specified port of the router will be transferred　to the IP address and specified The accessing URL is dependant on the connection type. Please be noted that the URL is case-sensitive. Therefore, please input the uppercase and lowercase letters exactly as they are. 　　　　　　　　The URL is case-sensitive. 2-5 Startup Flowchart Startup Flowchart 1st Login (The PBX is in the factory default state) 2nd Login Onwards (The PBX is NOT in the factory default state) If LAN settings have been changed from their default values, you will be prompted to restart the PBX. Click OK to restart the PBX. There are two types of Login. 1st login : Easy Setup Wizard 2nd login : Advanced set up (Self setup) 17

2-6 Easy Setup Setup by Wizard When you log in to Web Maintenance Console for a PBX that is in its initialised, factory default state, the Easy Setup Wizard for that PBX will launch automatically. For further information, refer to the “Initial Setup”. 18

2-7 Self-setup Direct access to desired setup items The self-setup allows direct access to desired setup items from the tree view. Some of the setup items have been provided in a wizard-style interface. Go on to the next chapter. 19

2-8 Logging into Web MC Launch the Web Browser and Log into Web MC 20 1 Launch your Web browser and enter the URL of Web MC. MNT Port * : http://kx-ns1000. LAN/VPN : http://192.168.0.101/WebMC Internet : https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:yyy *Be sure to include the period at the end. 2 Enter a Username and Password. Connect the PC to the PBX, then access Web MC. MEMO If you fail to login 3 times, the PBX will deny any access for the next 5 minutes. 20

2-9 Log-in / Log-out Information After establishing a connection to Web Maintenance Console, the login window is displayed, and a login name and password must be entered. Up to 32 User (User) level accounts may log in at one time to Web MC Only 1 user may log in and make settings using the Installer level or User (Administrator) account at a time. . - If the “User (Administrator)” is logged in to Web MC, and the “Installer” logs in, the “Installer” may override or log in to Web MC in read only mode. - If the “User (Administrator)” is logged in to Web MC, and another “User (Administrator)” logs in, the 　 　 “User (Administrator)” logging in may log in to Web MC in read only mode. - If the “Installer” is logged in to Web MC, and another “Installer” logs in, the “Installer” logging in may override. - If the “Installer” is logged in to Web MC, and the ”User (Administrator)” logs in, the “User (Administrator)” 　may 　log in to Web MC in read only mode. - In any case, a message window will be displayed. Conditions & Notifications about Log-in are explained. If a user attempts to log in, but enters an incorrect password three times, the failure is recorded in the error log of the PBX and the user may not attempt to log in again for a 5-minute period. 21

2-9 Log-in / Log-out Information Be sure to log out from the Web MC using the Logout button. When this option is chosen, system data is automatically saved from the temporary memory (DRAM) of the PBX to the Storage Memory Card. Logout Save To save settings while programming, click the Save button. Always end your programming session by clicking the Logout button. Conditions & Notifications about Log-in are explained. 22

2-10 Screen Descriptions (1/4) Home Screen Upon Log-in, you are presented with the “Home” Screen Access the Home screen. Home Screen Icon Access the Maintenance screen. Software version Access the Setup screen. Show EXT list view Saves the data. Show the Web MC Ver info. Saves the data and logs you out. The Home Screen of Web MC provides an overall view of your One-look network, and allows you select a PBX to perform programming, or add a PBX to your One-look network. The Home Screen is displayed when you login to Web MC. (20秒）The screen can also be accessed by clicking the Home Screen icon at the top of the Web MC screen. Adds slave units. 2-11 Button Descriptions (1/2) Standard Buttons Temporarily saves changes to DRAM and closes the current screen. Abandons changes. Temporarily saves changes to DRAM and remains on the same screen. To save setting while programming, click this button on the Home screen. There are standard buttons that are displayed on many screens within Web MC. When this button is clicked to logout of Web Maintenance Console, system data is automatically backed up from the PBX to the Storage Memory Card. * Be sure to SAVE your programming frequently. 27

Select “Physical” or “Virtual” Slot View. Installed “Physical” Cards. In the ‘Settings’ View, the ‘SLOT’ view shows what Physical and Virtual cards are installed. 2-13 Automatic Logout Timer By Default, the WebMC portal will only remain active (without activity) for 60 minutes. Setup -> Network Service -> 2.5 HTTP To change the WebMC Auto Logout timer, change this settings. When a new setting screen is opened, OK / Apply button is clicked, and the system data is saved, the logout timer is expired.

User / Admin / Installer Profiles Chapter 3 User / Admin / Installer Profiles

3-1 Default Profile – Installer (1) By Default, an single INSTALLER Profile is pre-defined in the Web MC. Login Profile is shown here. Profile list view is shown here. Tabs show the Profile settings and associated Extension FWD/DND settings Only one INSTALLER profile is created by default. All other profiles must be created manually. The installer level account is the highest authorisation level. 32

3-1 Default Profile – Installer (2) In the profile screen, it is possible to select “Add”, “Edit”, “Delete” and “Filter” profiles depending on the Profile Level. Setup -> Users -> 1. User Profiles Deletes the selected row Edit the selected row Adds Range Adds new entry Remove filter 33

3-1 Default Profile – Installer (4) From the Installer Level profile (Maintenance Screen), it is possible to select which screens the Administrator Profiles can see; Maintenance -> Tool -> 8. Screen Customise Specify which menu screens, tools and utilities can be accessed in the User (Administrator) account level. 35

System Log data can also be obtained via the Maintenance Screen. 3-2 Profile Types - “Administrator” An Administrator profile can be changed to limited system settings; System Log data can also be obtained via the Maintenance Screen. Basic System Settings can be changed to enable local administration and configuration. Administrator accounts are for general maintenance of users and user settings. This account level is used by on-site managers and network administrators. Administrator level accounts can use Web MC to add users or programme user settings. * It is possible to select which screens the Administrator Profiles can see. (Screen Customise Menu) * By setting, an administrator is able to manage User profiles. 36

3-3 Profile Types - “User” User profiles only allow changes to limited settings; - Their own settings (Password, DND, Forward, etc.) System Settings cannot be seen. User accounts are for individual users of the PBX system. Users can use Web MC to change their extension settings, speed dial settings, or other personal settings. Many items cannot be changed. It is impossible to select which screens the User Profiles can see. 37

(File Transfer PC to PBX) (File Transfer PBX to PC) 4-1 Overview Off-line mode programming is performed using the Off-line version of Web Maintenance Console, which you install on your PC. Install the Off-line version of Web MC (Software). Create on the PC (Off-line) System Data Files (DCSYS) On-line Uploading (File Transfer PC to PBX) On-line Downloading (File Transfer PBX to PC) Modify on the PC Off-line mode allows you to create new system data files and make modifications to system data files stored on your PC, without being connected to the PBX. The updated data by programming can be saved and then it will be uploaded to the PBX. 39

4-3 Creating a new data file (1) You can start a new session of PBX programming in Off-line mode. 1 Click the shortcut created on the desktop screen, or select “NX-NS1000 Off-line Web MC” from Windows Start menu. (Start -> Program -> Panasonic -> KX-NS1000 Web Maintenance Console by default) 2 Click “New -Offline Mode (N)”. Login screen will be displayed. Enter the Username and password, then click “Login”. -> Username : INSTALLER (default) -> Password : 1234 (default) 3

4-3 Creating a new data file (2) The Easy Setup Wizard will be launched. (*) Make settings as same as Interactive mode. * Refer to the “Initial Set Up” part for details. 5 When the Easy Setup Wizard is finished, the Home screen of Off-line mode will be displayed. Make settings as same as Interactive mode. Off-line mode

4-3 Creating a new data file (3) 6 When you save the created data as System Data file (DCSYS), click “Save System Data” icon. Click “Save System Data” icon. Click “Yes” on the “Save System Data” window. Click “OK” on the “Success” window to save the system data as a file. When the message window is displayed, click “Save” , specify the destination folder and file name, and save the data files. (Standard Windows Interface)

4-4 Modifying the downloaded data file (1) This operation will load a PBX settings system data file from your PC for programming in Off-line mode. Launch the Off-line Web MC. 1 2 Click “Open -Offline Mode (O)”.

4-4 Modifying the downloaded data file (2) 3 1. Specify the file name to be modified. 2. Click “OK”. * The data file which can be modified is “DCSYS” file. Reference The “DCSYS” file can be downloaded through “File Transfer PBX to PC”. Maintenance -> Utility-> 2.2 File Transfer PBX to PC Select “DCSYS” , then click “Transfer” to download the file. * Enter “DCSYS” in the File Name column so that　only “DCSYS” file is displayed.

4-4 Modifying the downloaded data file (3) Login to the Web MC (Off-line mode) * Enter the username and password that are set to the PBX from which the data file is downloaded. 5 The Home screen of Off-line mode will be displayed. Make settings as same as Interactive mode. Off-line mode 6 Click “Save System Data” to save the created data as System Data file (DCSYS). * The operation is as same as creating new data files. Refer to chapter.4-3 for details. Click “Save System Data” icon.

4-5 Uploading the data file (1) File Transfer PC to PBX　(On-line Mode : Connect to the PBX) 1 Maintenance -> Utility-> 2.1 File Transfer PC to PBX Specify the folder and the file name. 2. Click “Execute”. * The transferred data will be saved as “DCSYS_R”. 2 You must reset the PBX to use new system data. Maintenance -> System Control -> 4. System Reset Click “Skip” to restart using new　system data (DCSYS_R).

4-6 Installation (1) Off-line version of Web MC is installed according to the following procedure; 1 Copy the "KX-NS1000 Off-line WEB-Maintenance Console" setup file to your PC. * To install the software, “Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0” and “Microsoft .NET Framework 4” must be installed to your PC in advance. * To install or uninstall the software on a PC running Windows XP Professional, you must be 　 logged in as a user in either the "Administrators" or "Power Users" group. * To install or uninstall the software on a PC running Windows Vista Business or Windows 7 Professional, you must be logged in as a user in the "Administrators" group. 2 Double-click the setup file to run the installer. 3 Click “Next” to start the Installation wizard. 48
