The School of Biomedical Sciences The School has over 1000 undergraduate students Studying on the following BSc (Hons) programmes; Biochemistry Biomedical Sciences Biomedical Genetics Exercise Biomedicine Pharmacology Physiological Sciences Sports and Exercise Science Food and Human Nutrition Nutrition with Food Marketing and MSci Biomedical Sciences, Genetics and Biochemistry

Training To work as a demonstrator you need to be trained This is delivered as a 3 hour session Next training sessions are: 11th October 2017 9:00-12:00 1st November 2017 14:00-17:00 7th February 2018 14:00-17:00 You can sign up for training sessions at: https://workshops.ncl.ac.uk/occurrences/?workshop=25629 Nb. Training To train as a seminar leader you need to complete the ILTHE - Introduction to Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Consists of an online component and a one day workshop. http://www.ncl.ac.uk/ltds/professional/ilthe/ To train as an invigilator you need to complete a very short online training session (details will be provided) http://www.ncl.ac.uk/staffdev/workshops/programmes/academic/itlhe/

The Labs… We have 4 labs with up to 100 students per class. Labs typically run for 3 - to 6 hours One demonstrator per 16-20 students May be some marking Pre-lab briefing with academic lead of practical session ‘Model answers’ normally available Pay £14.22/hour

The Seminars… 50 minutes – usually you will start as an “assistant” seminar leader May be question and answer sessions, oral presentations etc. Pre-seminar briefing with academic lead of seminar. Typically given ‘model answers’ and copies of the questions Class size: 20 - 30 students (depending on year and programme of study) Pay £25.82/hour (more pay than demonstrating, but more training and preparation; less hours available!)
