In 1763, a group of men from Britain, France, and Spain met in Paris, the capitol city of France! Their countries had been at war with each other over who was the world’s superpower, but now they came together to sign a peace treaty. Know as the Treaty of Paris, it brought the Seven Years’ War to an end. More than 30 battles had been fought in Europe, Africa, India, and the West Indies, but nowhere were the consequences as great as in North America.

There are 3,500 miles of ocean that separate America and Britain.

a militia army- A military force of civilians whose job was to support the regular British army.

Britain-Known as “The Mother Country” By 1763, most people who lived in Britain’s American colonies had been born there, and a few had visited the “mother country.” Britain’s North American colonies were ruled by Britain from Britain. To put it another way, two million American people were not in control of their own lives.
