Statistics for NSERC Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Fellow Support Average 2011-2015 Master's (CGSM) Doctoral (PGS/CGSD) Postdoctoral 1921 Applications 1628 Applications 1120 Applications 825 Awards 724 Awards 130 Awards 46% Success Rate 44% Success Rate 16% Success Rate Notables: Success rate of Doctoral applicants decreased 10% (to 42%) over 4 years Success rate of PDF applicants increased 20% (to 31%) over 4 years (note: maximum 1 application/lifetime since Comp. 2013) Vanier scholars are ~36% female (ave. 2011-2015) Female Banting fellows increased to 42% in 2014; from 12% in 2011 (ave. 2011-2014 is 27%) In 2015, PGSD/CGSD awardees were 33% female and PDF awardees were 26% female

Discovery Grants - Training of Highly Qualified Personnel In 2014, 63% of Discovery Grants funds were used to put people to work, supporting: 3,720 undergraduate students 7,300 graduate students 830 postdoctoral fellows 940 technicians In 2013, ~10 HQP were supervised per funded researcher (6.9 Canadian + 2.8 international)
