THE KING OF ENGLAND DISAPPROVED OF PURITANS PURITAN LEADERS FELT THEY NEEDED TO LEAVE ENGLAND THEY RECEIVED A CHARTER FROM MBC- MASSACHUSETTS BAY COMPANY JOHN WINTHROP BECAME THE FIRST GOV OF THE COLONY

SOME SETTLERS JOINED PURITANS FOR ECONOMIC REASONS PRIMOGENITURE- THE IDEA OF GIVING EVERYTHING TO FIRST SON LEFT MANY LANDLESS AND PROSPECTLESS SECOND/THIRD SONS WHO CAME TO COLONIES

GOVERNING THE COLONY ALL COLONISTS WORKED, BUT NOT ALL COULD MAKE DECISIONS ACC TO CHARTER, ONLY STOCKHOLDERS OF MBC COULD VOTE MOST SETTLERS RESENTED THIS LACK OF PARTICIPATION

AT TOWN MEETINGS SETTLERS VOTED ON AND DISCUSSED ISSUES PURITANS HAD VERY STRICT LAWS THE ECONOMY WAS BASED ON FISHING, FARMING, AND LOGGING EVENTUALLY THE PURITANS STARTED TO DECLINE- FEW PPL LEFT ENGLAND FOR RELIGIOUS REASONS
