Unit 3 Lessons 7-10 Main Points and Review

Lesson 7 Jesus knew what was going to happen to him, and he knew it would be painful He prayed that God could find another way to accomplish the task, but only if it was God’s will to do so As he prayed, blood came out of his skin like sweat The disciples kept falling asleep Judas came to betray Jesus with a group of Jewish leaders

Lesson 7 Jesus had three trials: 2 with the Jewish leaders and 1 with the Romans Jesus had to the see the Romans because the Jews did not have legal power to kill Jesus The Jewish leaders broke many of their own laws when they had Jesus’ trial Pontius Pilate, the governor of the Romans, condemned Jesus to die for treason.

Lesson 8 Jesus was condemned to die by crucifixion. Crucifixion was one of the worst punishments of the ancient world. It was designed to make people suffer and cause victims to die slowly. Jesus had suffered a lot of physical pain: he was whipped, beaten, had a crown of thorns shoved on his head, forced to carry the cross, and finally crucified.

Lesson 8 Jesus also suffered spiritually and emotionally that day. All but one disciple abandoned him All the sins of the world—all people, all time—were placed on him. His relationship with God was broken because of the sin placed on him People laughed and made fun of him while he was on the cross

Lesson 8 The cross had a purpose: to pay for the sins of humanity. Jesus was a human so he could die for humans. He was perfect so he could be a perfect payment for our sins The cross looks like a defeat, but it is really a victory for God against sin.

Lesson 9 Jesus did more than die on a cross for us. He came back to life! It shows that Jesus not only wins—HE CRUSHED IT! The disciples were surprised when it happened, but soon, they realized just how powerful Jesus was. We celebrate this event every year on a holiday called Easter. Just like Jesus came back to life, Jesus can make your spirit come back to life. One day, you get a new body that no longer has sickness, suffering, or sin.

Lesson 10 After Jesus came back to life, he appeared to his disciples and friends over a period of 40 days. Then it was time for Jesus to go back to heaven. Before going up to Heaven, Jesus gave his disciples an important job The disciples were supposed to go all over the world to tell people that Jesus could save them The disciples would not be alone on this mission. The Holy Spirit would help them. Jesus now sits next to God, the Father in heaven and prays for us
