Dreams reality?

What are dreams? Dreams combine verbal, visual, and emotional stimuli into a sometimes broken, non-sequential, but often entertaining storyline.

Dream theories There are two theories to dreaming: The idea that dreams are only physiological stimulations The idea that dreams are psychologically necessary

When do dreams occur? Obviously dreams occur during sleep We experience our most vivid dreams during a type of sleep called REM (Rapid Eye Movement) During REM sleep our brain is very active. Our eyes move back and forth rapidly. It occurs every 90-100 minutes of sleep, 3-4 times a night.

What do my dreams mean? Dreams are useful in finding out the dreamers feelings, thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and values. Many people find that interpreting your dreams can help you solve some of your problems Your dreams reflect your own underlying thoughts and feelings. The people, actions, setting, and emotions in your dreams are personal to you

Interpreting dreams Different things can mean different things to different people Think about the significance of the elements of your dream Look for parallels between the dream thoughts, feelings, behavior, and motives of the dreamer. To help better interpret your dreams record all the details of your dream either with a voice recorder or writing them down on a notebook

Recurrent dreams Understanding the meaning of recurrent dreams can sometimes help the dreamer to solve an issue that he or she has been struggling with

Nightmares Insanely scary dreams that you really don’t want to have. Cause: stress, traumatic experiences, emotional difficulties, drugs, medication, or illness, and poor quality of sleep

Can I control my dreams? No. However you can influence your dreams by giving yourself pre-sleep suggestions Lucid dreaming- being asleep or dreaming, but being aware that you are in a dream Help you visualize and rehearse an event in your mind before it actually occurs Helps overcome fears and anxieties The application of lucid dreaming is only limited to your imagination
