History of music Classical music, as we use it on this site, basically includes thousands  of years of time. This area basically describes the history of classical music.  When we speak of classical music, we are talking of the western influence.  We aren't talking about the ancient eastern music of the Asian continent. Classical music can be organized in a variety of ways. This section divides  music into six historical periods: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque,  Classical, Romantic and the Contemporary. Each period is briefly described.  and includes a list of important composers, some song files  provided by our generous sponsors, an option to buy some recordings,  and recommended recordings. Also, there is an organized layout which we used  to organize information on this site. We'd like to thank Classical Insites for  helping us acquire sound files and information of these periods. Most of the  information included in this site was from my notes after taking two years of  music theory in high school. To learn more about any of these time periods,  please contact a music theorist specializing in the specific time period  you would like to know about.

Content of the music the entertainer The Entertainer is a 1902 classic piano rag written by Scott Joplin. One of the classics of ragtime, used as the theme music for the 1973 Oscar-winning film The Sting. It has cheerful melodies and giving impression that ragtime music was popular at that time. During his lifetime, he is often happy and fun so it affects the content of his music.

Content of the music prelude in c minor Frederic Chopin wrote a number of preludes for piano solo. The music Is created with slow and calm melody, which is relaxing. He composed it based on his feelings that time, and he is in a calm situation.

Biography of Joplin Scott Joplin, the "King of Ragtime" music, was born near Linden, Texas on November 24, 1868. He moved with his family to Texarkana at the age of about seven. Even at this early age, Joplin demonstrated his extraordinary talent for music. Encouraged by his parents, he was already proficient on the banjo, and was beginning to play the piano. By age eleven and under the tutelage of Julius Weiss, he was learning the finer points of harmony and style. As a teenager, he worked as a dance musician. After several years as an itinerant pianist playing in saloons and brothels throughout the Midwest, he settled in St. Louis about 1890. There he studied and led in the development of a music genre now known as ragtime--a unique blend of European classical styles combined with African American harmony and rhythm. In 1893, Joplin played in sporting areas adjacent to the Colombian Exposition in Chicago, and the following year moved to Sedalia, Missouri. From there, he toured with his eight-member Texas Medley Quartette as far east as Syracuse, New York. One of his first compositions, The Great Crush Collision, was inspired by a spectacular railroad locomotive crash staged near Waco, Texas in September of 1896 (see Crash at Crush). In the late 1890s, Joplin worked at the Maple Leaf Club in Sedalia, which provided the title for his best known composition, the Maple Leaf Rag, published in 1899. This was followed a few years later by The Entertainer, another well known Joplin composition. Over the next fifteen years, Joplin added to his already impressive repertoire, which eventually totaled some sixty compositions. In 1911, Joplin moved to New York City, where he devoted his energies to the production of his operatic work, Treemonisha, the first grand opera composed by an African American. At the time, however, this resulted unsuccessfully. After suffering deteriorating health due to syphilis that he contracted some years earlier, Joplin died on April 1, 1917 in Manhattan State Hospital. Although Joplin's music was popular and he received modest royalties during his lifetime, he did not receive recognition as a serious composer for more than fifty years after his death. Then, in 1973, his music was featured in the motion picture, The Sting, which won and Academy Award for its film score. Three years later, in 1976, Joplin's opera Treemonisha won the coveted Pulitzer Prize.

Biography of Chopin Frédéric Chopin, the greatest of the Polish composers, was born in Zelazowa Wola, near Warsaw on February 22, 1810 of a French father, and a Polish mother. He spent the first 20 years of his life in Warsaw, where he was able to hear many of the premier artists of the time perform. Chopin first studied piano at the Warsaw Conservatory, and became very proficient on the instrument by the time he reached his early teens. He played his first concert at the age of 7, and was a published composer by the time he turned 15. By the late 1820s, Chopin had won a great reputation as a piano virtuoso and composer. He toured throughout Europe to the acclaim of audiences and critics, alike. In 1831, after performing in Paris, he fell so deeply in love with the city that he made it his home, and never again returned to Warsaw. He soon became a favorite of the Parisian salons, and the society elite, and throughout the years that he lived in Paris, was always in great demand as both a pianist and a teacher. In the late 1830s, Chopin met the novelist, Mme. Aurore Dudévant, who used the pen name George Sand. They began a relationship that would prove to be both the most influential and devastating events of his life. By 1847, their highly-charged relationship had ended, leaving Chopin heartbroken. He continued to create music, but soon became ill, and died suddenly on October 17, 1849, at the age of only 39. According to legend, there has never been a day when fresh flowers were not placed on his grave at Pêre-Lachaîse

Background when and why did Chopin creates music Chopin's stand as self-contained units, each conveying a specific idea or emotion. He wrote them between 1835 and 1839, partly at Valldemossa, Majorca, for expressing feelings and grow creativity for his talent.

Background when and why Joplin creates music Scott Joplin's The Entertainer was published on December 29th of 1902. He creates it because since he was a little kid he is really talented and is really interested in music especially playing piano also regarding to his mood that time is in a joyful condition.

Compare and contrast between Chopin’s and Joplin’s music Chopin and Joplin are both a well known musician which composed great songs. they both uses the same kind of musical instrument which is piano but Chopin’s music has calmer and softer melody than Joplin's one; it is a cheerful, fun and happy melody. Their music are different because they also have different kinds of childhood and right of passage. They also have different times, place and reasons when composing their music based on their creativity. However they are still both a famous musician.
