Be the Match works in helping patients that suffer from blood cell cancer find a life saving donor. Does anyone know of a blood cell cancer? Leukemia is a common cancer that you may have heard off. How to be a match: Let’s say for example I had leukemia and my doctor says I am eligible of a marrow donor. I need to find someone that would be close to my DNA and ancestry. Who do you think would be the first people I would go too to get tested for a match? (students will response differently) Yes. Family!

What is the chance of matching within your family? The first to be tested in our family would be our siblings. If there is no match then other family members can get tested. But did you know that in our family we only have 20% possibility of a match? That’s a very low chance right?
