The Nebraska Executive Branch

Officers of the Executive Branch -Consists of 6 officers 1. Governor 2. Lieutenant Gov. 3. Sec. of State 4. State Auditor 5. State Treasurer 6. Attorney General

Terms of Office Selected by popular vote by people Four-year Terms Until 1966, the governor served a two-year term Governor and Treasurer serve only two terms

Terms of Office Other officers can serve unlimited terms Since 1867, Nebraska has had (38) different governors 29 Republicans 8 Democrats 2 Other (Populists) 1 died in office 2 have served a total of eight years (Exon and Nelson)

Current Governor Dave Heineman Lives in Governor’s mansion Built in 1958 for $200,000 Governor has two offices State Capitol building, second floor Western Office located in Sidney, Nebraska

Current Governor Salary Salary is set by the legislature January 9th, 2003 the salary was raised to $85,000 a year from $65,000 a year It has now been raised to $105,000
