Industrial byproducts

Industrial byproducts Pozzolanic are siliceous materials which possess no cementitious properties but in the presence of water, chemically react with calcium hydroxide liberated on hydration to form compounds, possessing cementitious properties. Pozzolana + Ca(OH)2 + water C-S-H (gel)

Pozzolanic materials Fly ash Blast Furnace Slag Silica fume Rice husk ash

Fly Ash Fly ash is finely divided residue resulting from the combustion of powdered coal

ASTM Classification Class F Has less than 5% CaO Class C Has more than 10% CaO Also possesses cementitious properties

Physical requirements Characteristic Grade I Grade II Fineness (m2/kg) 320 250 Compressive strength Not less than 80% of the strength of corresponding plain cement mortar cubes Soundness (%) 0.8

Blast Furnace Slag GGBS ( Ground Granulated Blast Slag ) A waste product from blast furnaces
