President’s Report  I would like to recognize the ICDABC Association Executive for their dedication and the time they have given to sustain and improve the ICDABC over the last year. The executive would not be doing this work if not for you, the members of the Infant and Child Development Association of BC and your continued support. There has been very little change in our membership numbers although there has been an increased awareness and interest in our Association . We look forward to serving a larger membership in the near future. We have been hearing our membership express concerns regarding increased sizes of caseload, decreased support for ongoing training which is specific to our work and supported by both funding within our contracts as well as our employers, Concerns regarding how our programs are understood by both the general public and our funding source. A request for smoother access and regular updates of our website.

President’s Report cont. I have been involved in conversations where individuals are asking how we can most effectively be advocating and involved in decisions at all levels of the systems relating to our programs. We have put considerable effort in to improving the Infant and Child Development Association’s website http://icdabc.ca/ . The internal resources are beginning to give us the capacity to connect with each other in a meaningful way. Last year we tabled the creation of advisory tables comprised of key stakeholders for our programs. This format may be a response that we can support in the future. In closing, I look forward to serving on the board in some capacity for the upcoming year. Respectfully submitted Laurie Russell, president

Membership Report. Judie Smith Reports Membership Report 2015/2016 Information for membership can be found on the ICDABC website www.icdabc.ca Membership can now be purchased by individuals or by agency groups. The new group rate is $100.00 per agency up to 5 members. Each member receives individual access to the interactive member’s area of the website. Memberships can be purchased by using PayPal at www.icdabc.ca or by mailing in a printed membership form and cheque payable to ICDABC. Membership for the 2015-2016 year is at 30 members.

Committees Newsletter Committee: Kara Fogwell, Chris McPhee, Sarah Browne This has been a transitional year and 2 newsletters were created for members. We will be posting the first page of the newsletter on our website and members can access the entire newsletter from the member page. Some ideas suggested for future newsletter themes include: -Effective Communication in Challenging situations (examples of typical ‘challenging’ situations consultants face and suggestions);

Committees Newsletter Committee cont.: -Developmental Assessment reports (examples of high quality reports written for parents under different circumstances, and perhaps some examples of poorly written sections ‘critiqued’ ??? The pros and cons of groups in our intervention work We welcome any suggestions and submissions to be considered for next years newsletters!

Nominations Nominations are for an individual to sit on the executive and position and or member at large will be decided on the first executive meeting thereafter.

Highlights 2015-2016 2 in-depth Newsletters to keep our membership informed. Our involvement with provincial networking committee with MCFD, IDP, AIDP, SCD and ASCD as the Regional Advisor for the Northern region and as liaison for ICDABC. Shelley

Future Directions (aka. New Business) Increase membership and the benefits associated with it. Disseminate the Area Rep information, introduce the individuals who will be in this role and clearly inform the membership regarding Area Rep roles and how members can access them. Create advisory tables for early intervention that reflect the 0-3 and 3-5 population, discuss support needed for the after school population. Review the ICDABC constitution and by-laws as well as the area representatives package (To be completed and voted on or before 2017 AGM)

Future Directions (aka. New Business, cont.) Create 3 discussion papers for each of 0-3 and 3-5 ages early intervention (this could be ongoing) with the guidance of our newly formed association advisory tables. Connecting with early intervention practitioners nationally and internationally. We will pursue partnerships with regions and/or other like minded organizations for a provincial conference and continue to pursue cohorts for a standing provincial in-service every 2 years.
