The Rich Man And Lazarus A certain rich man. Luke 16:19 Clothed in purple & fine linen. Fared sumptuously every day. A certain beggar named Lazarus. Luke 16:20-21 Full of sores. Laid at the rich man’s gate. Desired crumbs. Dogs licked his sores.

The Rich Man And Lazarus All must die. Luke 16:22; Ecclesiastes 9:5 James 4:14 "What is your life? for ye are as a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." Psalms 90:10 "The days of our years are three score and ten, or even by reason of strength fourscore years: yet is their pride but labor and sorrows, for it is soon gone, and we fly away …Teach us to number our days that we may get us a heart of wisdom."

The Rich Man And Lazarus Eternal Punishment Is Real. Luke 16:23 Matthew 25:41 "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels" Psalms 53:1 "The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God."

The Rich Man And Lazarus Too Late To Pray. Luke 16:24-25 Called on Abraham for help. God heareth not sinners. John 9:31; Proverbs 28:9

The Rich Man And Lazarus No Second Chance. Luke 16:26 Appointed once to die, then judgment. Hebrews 9:27 All will stand before judgment. 2 Corinthians 5:10

The Rich Man And Lazarus Word of God is true. Luke 16:29 God’s law is the standard of Judgment. John 12:48 God’s law is able to save. James 1:21 God’s law is perfect. James 1:25 Christ’s word ONLY words of salvation. John 6:66-68

The Rich Man And Lazarus Cannot warn others. Luke 16:27-31 Go preach. Mark 16:15 Preach the gospel. Romans 1:16; cf. Acts 17:1-3 THE ONE HOPE FOR ERRING AND SINFUL MEN - that they may be persuaded. cf. Acts 26:28-29; 2 Corinthians 5:11 Miracles would have no effect on men’s hearts if they reject the gospel.

The Rich Man And Lazarus Worldly possessions no good after death. Luke 16:25 Possessions left behind for the living. Luke 16:19-21; cf. Luke 12:13ff No profit to riches without God. Matthew 16:26 One may be poor, yet rich in faith. James 2:5

The Rich Man And Lazarus Sin has consequences. Luke 16:23-25, 28 1. “being in torments” - 23a 2. “I am in anguish in this flame” - 24c 3. “and thou art in anguish” - 25c 4. “lest they also come into this place of torment” - 28b We reap what we sow. Galatians 6:7-8 God not a respecter of persons. Romans 2:11

The Rich Man And Lazarus All must die. Eternal punishment is real. Too late to pray. No second chance. Word of God is true. Cannot warn others. Possessions no good after death. Sin has consequences. Now is the time to prepare! 2 Corinthians 6:2
