VGC General Safety Briefing Vesa Airaksinen 30.6.2016

Car Park = Winch line Car park

LANDING CIRCUITS = VGC Gliders = Gliders = Motor planes

General information The airfield is in normal general usage. Car Parking is allowed at the airfield only in starting areas 08 and 12 Driving to 08 is via the public road, Tauluntie. No Car Parking is allowed at the starting areas for runways 26 and 30 There are water taps by the hangars and at the Glider parking area. Do not drink from these taps! There will be toilets in the starting areas of 08 and 12

No landing fields in these areas

When walking to 26 L and 30 R you must pay special attention and look for possible landing aircrafts on runway 26R!! Use the Taxiways for moving gliders to 08 and 12. After landing, ATV’s will help you to move the Gliders from the landing area. At a radius of 10 km from airfield only left turns are allowed. This is a general finnish rule in order to avoid collisions! When starting using air tow we recommend that the helpers should run on the right side wing tip.

Landing circuit Down wind starts from to other end of the runway at a height of 300m. There you do your radio notice: ”Glider xxxx Downwind 30L asfalt or gras”. After that you are not allowed to circle or look for thermals! Downwind and base airspace must be left free for landing gliders. Plan your arrival from a X-country flight so that you have minimum height of 300m AGL at the beginning of down wind. Tow planes may often use right hand circuits when landing. Speed limit for Cars on the camping area is 20km/h! Note! This airfied is a public airfield and we do not accept hasardous flying SAFETY FIRST SAFETY FIRST SAFETY FIRST SAFETY FIRST

Air Tow information: For air tow or winch start you need to buy a ticket from the Info Cottage. Air tow ticket tow heights: 1 Ticket is 500m 1 ½ tickets to 750m and 2 tickets to 1000m We prefer being high behind the tows as the mirrors of the tow planes are adjusted to that level After releasing the towing line please turn to the left. The tow planes turn to the right.
