How Weather Conditions Affect the Lives of Humans and Other Animals

Activity One “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” How do the weather conditions in the book affect the lives of the characters in the story? Why should you study weather? Why is it important to understand weather?

Our lives, just like the lives of those in the story “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, are affected in different ways by the weather. Each group gets a picture of a weather condition. Where do you think your picture was taken?

What time of year do you think your picture was taken? What is the weather like in your picture? How can you tell?

How would this weather condition affect the lives of animals and people? Record your answers. Present your findings.

Activity Two Each group gets an index card with an occupation listed. Brainstorm how a person in this occupation is affected by weather and weather forecast. Pass your card to another group. Report some ideas aloud when each group has had a chance to see all occupations.
