Aim #4: How did Hinduism transform Indian culture? Do Now: How do we view death in American society? Try to think of an example from a movie, television show or book that represents the way you think about death?

I. Hinduism is a polytheistic religion that developed from the hymns and religious ceremonies of the Aryans Brahma - Creator Vishnu- Preserver Shiva- Destroyer

III. REINCARNATION Definition: Belief that an individual soul is born again and again in different forms. For human beings, the form in which you are reincarnated depends on your karma.

IV. KARMA All the good and bad deeds you have committed in your lifetime. How can this help you in the reincarnation process?

V. DHARMA Duties that you owe to your caste (example: Brahmins are expected not to eat meat). Do your dharma to get good karma. Then you move up in the Varna (Hindu name for the caste system)

VI. The Goal: MOKSHA An end to the cycle of rebirth and suffering. To rejoin the soul (atman) with Brahman (the Universal Soul or God).
