Mrs. Hall’s The Human Body Popping Kindergarteners Week of September 19th – 23rd Sight Words Zero, one, two, three We will practice knowing these by heart, using them in sentences, and reading them! Continue to practice I, am , the & little. Writing Writing our names – We will practice only using a capital letter at the beginning of our names! Writing simple sentences. (Ex: I can see.) Writing upper and lowercase letters correctly The Human Body This week we will begin our unit on the human body. We will talk about the heart, lungs, bones, joints, stomach and many other parts! As an extension of our unit, you can talk about how it is important to eat healthy and exercise to help keep up healthy. When eating ask your child is it a healthy food. Phonics/Reading We will continue focusing on letters this week. We will focus on the formation, sound, and neatness when writing them. Our letters will be Jj - Kk. We will also practice writing Aa - Ii correctly. We will also be talking about all letters and which sound each of them make. Please work on this at home. OTHER SKILLS: Syllables. Blending syllables to form word Rhyming words Character, setting, author, and illustrator. Beginning Sounds
Scholastic Book Orders Reminder: In our tools for life lessons we are working on listening bodies. This teaches children to listen to the speaker and be polite! We are collecting box tops for education. The class with the most box tops wins a prize! Reminder to wear a Clinton shirt on Fridays!! Please let your child do their own homework. Take all papers out of the folder and return the binder daily. Send back any forms in the folder. Scholastic Book Orders Each month I will send home a scholastic order form. These forms are a great way to help you get books on your childs level to use at home. As a first year teacher it’s hard to build our classroom library with books that integrate other subjects with reading and math.
