Warm up The US should allow more refugees into this country. What is your opinion? Why? Please explain.

REFUGEE A PERSON WHO FLEES OWN COUNTRY B/C FEAR OF BEING PERSECUTED FOR RACE, RELIGION, NATIONALITY, MEMBERSHIP TO SOCIAL GROUP, OR POLITICAL OPINION. CROSSES INTERNATIONAL BORDER TO SEEK ASYLUM/PROTECTION IN ANOTHER COUNTRY.

ASYLUM PROTECTION WITHIN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY FROM YOUR OWN UNDER INTERNATIONAL LAW, IF YOU CAN PROVE YOU ARE A REFUGEE, YOU MUST BE GRANTED ASYLUM UNTIL IT IS “SAFE” TO GO HOME.

RESETTLEMENT COUNTRIES CAN CHOOSE TO RESETTLE REFUGEES, OFFICIALLY GRANTING PERMANENT RESIDENCY WITHIN THEIR BORDERS

INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSON (IDP) MOST COMMON CAUSE OF IDP MASS MOVEMENTS > INTRASTATE (CIVIL) CONFLICTS RECENTLY- LARGE SCALE ECONOMIC OR PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMS HAVE CAUSED IDP MOVEMENT (BUILDING DAMS, LOGGING, ETC) IDPS NOT MONITORED BY INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS SOMEONE FORCED TO LEAVE HOME DUE TO SAME REASONS AS REFUGEE, BUT UNABLE TO CROSS BORDER FOR ASYLUM IDPS DO NOT HAVE SAME RIGHTS/PROTECTIONS AS REFUGEES

MIGRANT SOMEONE WHO CHOOSES TO LEAVE HOME TO GET CITIZENSHIP IN DIFFERENT COUNTRY THROUGH OFFICIAL CITIZENSHIP PROCESS, OR ILLEGALLY MOST LIKELY CAUSE-LACK OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY OR QUALITY OF LIFE IN HOME COUNTRY “ECONOMIC OR ENVIRONMENTAL REFUGEES”
