Update The Coordinated Admission to Higher Education in Denmark Præsentationstitel - Ændres via Indsæt>Sidehoved & Sidefod Update The Coordinated Admission to Higher Education in Denmark Tine Bjerregaard Danish Agency of Higher Education

The Coordinated Admission - introduction In the 70s a need for optimizing the educational resources occurred as to many applicant wanted to enroll in the same programmes. The Coordinated Admission (KOT) was therefore established in 1977. The main purpose of KOT is (still) to coordinate the admission to higher education to make sure, that any applicant can apply for admission to up to 8 programmes, but will receive only one offer for a study place - at the highest possible priority. As few as possible of the study places must be vacant when the coordination process is finish in order to fulfil the political aim. KOT is also a way to deal with programmes with restricted admission as we still have the same challenge as in the 70s: Too many applicants wants to enroll in the same programmes. Some programmes has very restricted admission while other programmes are in need of more applicants.

The Coordinated Admission - introduction The higher education institutions are public and financed by The Ministry of Higher Education and it is mandatory to participate in the Coordinated Admission for all university bachelor programmes, professional bachelor programmes and academy profession programmes. For applicants it is mandatory to apply via the application portal Optagelse.dk.
