Welcome to NGBC! Father God, We come before you needing your grace, your forgiveness, your touch of healing. Grant us peace now in your presence. We need to hear your voice, to see your smile and to receive your love. Come close to us as we worship, Lord The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

Come, now is the time to worship Come, now is the time to worship. Come, now is the time to give your heart Come, just as you are, to worship. Come, just as you are, before your God. Come. One day every tongue will confess You are God. One day every knee will bow. Still the greatest treasure remains for those Who gladly choose you now. The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

He is risen from the dead and he is Lord He is Lord, He is Lord He is risen from the dead and he is Lord Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess That Jesus Christ is Lord The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

Father God I Wonder how I managed to exist without the knowledge of Your parenthood and Your loving care Now I am Your son, I am adopted in Your family and I will never be alone 'cause Father God You're there beside me I will sing Your praises (x2) I will sing Your praises for evermore(x2) The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

When I survey the wondrous cross On which the Prince of Glory died My richest gain I count but loss And pour contempt on all my pride Oh, the wonderful cross (x2) Bids me come and die And find that I may truly live See from his head, His hands, His feet Sorrow and love flow mingled down Did e'er such love and sorrow meet Or thorns compose so rich a crown Oh, the wonderful cross All who gather here By grace draw near and bless Your name The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

The splendor of a King, clothed in majesty Let all the earth rejoice All the earth rejoice He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide …And trembles at His voice Trembles at His voice How great is our God, sing with me How great is our God, and all will see How great, how great is our God The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

Age to age He stands and time is in His hands Beginning and the end , Beginning and the end The Godhead Three in One Father Spirit Son The Lion and the Lamb, the Lion and the Lamb How great…. Name above all names Worthy of our praise My heart will sing How great is our God The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

Jesus my desire is to worship thee Set my feet a’dancing Set my heart on fire Set my spirit free Jesus my desire is to worship thee Set my feet a’dancing In perfect liberty The kingdom is advancing When we worship thee And there’ll be showers of blessing, showers of blessing on me….. The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament The Spirit of Elijah The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

Setting the scene One man exemplifies the life of a Spirit-filled man in the Old Testament more than any other. That man was Elijah. He came to prominence during the troubled reign of Ahab and Jezebel (1 Kings 16: 29-34), against whom he represented an implacable opposition. We’re looking at three meetings in his life and asking what that teaches us about ministry in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

Elijah and the widow of Zarephath 1 Kings 17: 7-24 “I have commanded a widow to supply you with food” (v9) “The jar of flour will not be used up… until the Lord gives rain” (v14) “The Lord heard Elijah’s cry and the boy’s life returned” (v22) The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

Elijah and Obadiah 1 Kings 18: 10-15 “The word of the Lord came” (v1) Obadiah: A man between two worlds “The Spirit of the Lord may carry you….” (v12) Who do you belong to, Obadiah? The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

Elijah and Ahab Ahab: “Is it you, you troubler?” Elijah: “Summon the people” “Summon the prophets of Baal” Let’s see who’s in charge here. The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

What is the “ministry of the Spirit”? Elijah and the widow (1 Kings 17) Ministry in the Spirit: Provision and Power  Elijah and Obadiah (1 Kings 18) Ministry in the Spirit: Discernment and Ownership  Elijah and Ahab (1 Kings 18:17f) Ministry in the Spirit: Choice and Division The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament

What is it like to live in “the Spirit of Elijah”? Choice: choosing God’s way Division: separating from other ways Discernment: working with wisdom Provision: receiving God’s “enough” Power: seeing God move in miracles The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament
