VRC Inspection Dylon Caudill Regional Support Manager Inspiring students, one robot at a time

Key Elements of Inspection Inspection is the starting point of your event – Thus it is VERY important! It is key to set a good tone during inspection to carry on throughout the day. To help set this tone, start by inviting teams to the inspection area upon check-in.

Key Elements of Inspection — Before the Event Before the event read the following documents: Go to Volunteer Resources Page, select VRC tab, select “Inspector” button: Review Robot Inspection Checklist Read Inspection Guide Go to VRC page, select Official Starstruck Game Manual button: Read Section 4, “The Robot,” in Current Game Manual Go to the VEX Forum Official Starstruck Q&A Review answers on Official Starstruck Q&A Go to VEXRobotics.com VEX EDR product accessories page Review VEX Product line to get familiar with legal parts

Key Elements of Inspection — Equipment The following equipment is suggested PER STATION: P/N: 276-2335 $19.99 6-8 ft. work table (will allow 2 inspectors to share space) Robot Inspection Checklist sheets Ink pens, highlighter, clipboards VRC sizing tool (can be shared) Competition switch with cable (P/N: 276-2335) Master team list – to mark off completed Inspections Tags (colored zip ties) or pipe cleaners to mark inspected robots Binder or envelop to store the completed/partial checklist P/N: 276-2086 $39.99

Key Elements of Inspection — The Process Always greet the team with a smile. Start the inspection by looking over the robot and picking one item to compliment (this helps set the tone of the event). Speak clearly to the team. Clearly sign the Robot Inspection Checklist. Have the team sign the Robot Inspection Checklist. Partial Inspections – need special care and attention.

Key Elements of Inspection — Tips Remind teams to bring their controller, a charged battery, and both sets of Team License plates to inspection. If a line forms, have a volunteer start the sizing process in line or allow the teams to use a pre-sizing station. Be sure to check off teams that have completed inspection so the remaining teams can be encouraged to get inspected.
