Fujitsu Training Documentation Rack Mounting Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 Fit the Controller Enclosure and/or Drive Enclosure to the rack For more and detailed information use the Hardware Installation Guide for the ETERNUS DX Entry S4; inp-R14B-1417-01EN1) For better stability installation of hardware in a rack has to start from the bottom Always have tilt prevention in place when installing HD-DE Make sure in advance that the maximum load capacity of the raised floor construction is not exceeded when installing High Density Drive Enclosures (that can be extremely heavy when fully populated) Controller Enclosure: maximum 54 kg Drive Enclosure: maximum 35 kg HD Drive Enclosure: maximum 95 kg 1) At the end of the file name 01 refers to first released version and EN refers to language variant English Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017

Fujitsu Training Documentation Power Cabling Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 For FTS (CEMEA&I) only Connect the rack PDUs (Power Distribution Units) to independent AC power phases Make sure that the AC power switches on each Enclosure are turned off before connecting their power cables Connect each Power Supply of an Enclosure to different Power Distribution Units Left Rack PDU Right Rack PDU PSU#0 inlet PSU#1 inlet Always follow the local power cabling regulations! Backend Cabling QSFP (2) Fujitsu Training Documentation Backend Cabling QSFP (2) Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 Follow the SAS port labels at the Enclosures This will point to the correct cabling This sign means "IN" and this sign means "OUT" Connect the cables according the labels showing the direction Cable end marked with plug into Enclosure connector marked with SAS ports of the Controller Enclosure always have the type "OUT" QSFP Cable Is a twin-cable with a Mini SAS connector at its end The cable has a blue release tab that must be applied when removing the cable from the connector Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017

Backend Cabling QSFP (3) Fujitsu Training Documentation Backend Cabling QSFP (3) Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 Extra care need to be taken when connecting the SAS cables between CM and DE MiniSAS connectors have a very poor mechanism for preventing the connector to be connected wrong way around Therefor cable and Jack are colored labeled Cable tab side to match with the blue color of the receptacle Pink color coding for the other side of the cable and receptacle Incorrectly connected cable leads not only to malfunction but can potentially damage also The built-in MiniSAS electronics of the cable The SAS electronics within the CM or IOM Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017

Backend Cabling QSFP (5) Fujitsu Training Documentation Backend Cabling QSFP (5) Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 DE expansion of an ETERNUS DX S4 system (1) Disconnect the SAS cable CM#1  IOM#1 (2) Connect the SAS cable CM#1(OUT) to IOM#1(IN) of the last, new DE (3) Connect the SAS cable IOM#1(OUT) of the last, new DE to the previous DE IOM#1(IN) During the expansion procedure ETERNUS DX S4 is fully functional accessing the HDDs of the existing DEs via the SAS backend cabling path CM#0 to IOM#0 CM DE#01 Rack#1 CM DE#01 DE#02 Rack#1 CM DE#01 DE#02 DE#03 Rack#1 Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017

DE Expansion between Racks Fujitsu Training Documentation DE Expansion between Racks Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 Following QSFP cable lengths are available For direct connections and for reverse cabling between DEs as well as between two racks in 2.5 m, 3.5 m and 6 m With DX Entry S4 systems maximum 10 DEs can be added to the CE DE#07 Rack#1 Rack#2 DE#06 DE#05 DE#04 DE#03 DE#02 DE#0A DE#01 DE#09 CM DE#08 Hardware Installation ETERNUS DX Entry S4 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017 Copyright Fujitsu, Release June 2017
