ICP-MS, Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is a type of mass spectrometry which is capable of detecting metals and several non-metals at concentrations as low as one part in 1015 (part per quadrillion, ppq) on non-interfered low-background isotopes. This is achieved by ionizing the sample with inductively coupled plasma and then using a mass spectrometer to separate and quantify those ions. Compared to atomic absorption spectroscopy, ICP-MS has greater speed, precision, and sensitivity. However, compared with other types of mass spectrometry, such as thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) and glow discharge mass spectrometry (GD-MS), ICP-MS introduces many interfering species: argon from the plasma, component gases of air that leak through the cone orifices, and contamination from glassware and the cones. The variety of applications exceeds that of inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy and includes isotopic speciation. Due to possible applications in nuclear technologies, ICP-MS hardware is a subject for special exporting regulations.

Why? The integration of online, hybrid and collaborative learning via the internet is driving immediate changes in Higher Education (Johnson et al. 2014). In particular the use of video is increasing as a teaching medium and is having an impact on lecturers, students and Universities According to Cisco, video traffic in Internet will be 80% of all Internet traffic by 2021. Internet has become faster as well, back in 2002, a song would take an average 12.5 minutes and today it takes only 18 seconds.

Summary The role of educators comprise guiding and providing a catalogue of topic-orientated video web links. This catalogue should be aligned with the syllabus/learning outcomes, pre-tested, keep up to date and evaluated on content, quality and impact. Open to student suggestions How this fits in assessment process? As Roodt et al. (2013) describe, there is clear improvement on engagement in course material just by incorporating YouTube in the classroom curriculum.
